As the name suggests, Bag in Box wine is basically a cardboard box with a bag inside. The bag is made up of several layers to protect its contents from light and oxidation, and the box, in turn, protects the bag, makes it easier to carry, and provides information on what is inside. There are many different, and very original designs.

Bag in Box wine has been getting more popular over the last few years. This is a revolutionary packaging system that means we can enjoy wine and keep it in perfect condition for up to 12 weeks.

Bag in Box wines come in different sizes, from one and a half litres to two, three, five, ten, even fifteen litres... but three and five litres are the most common sizes.

As well as being a good size, another good thing about Bag in Box wines is that once opened, the wine stays in optimal condition for weeks, because they have a small tap or dispenser that means you can serve yourself the amount you want whilst stopping air from getting inside the bag, which stops the wine from oxidising.

Although Bag in Box wines used to be young, there are now a wide range of wines sold in this format, from young wines to wines aged for months in barrels, they are traditional or organic, biodynamic or natural...
