A smooth taste of refined luxury
Gin is a distillate obtained through the distillation of barley and flavoured with juniper berries and various botanicals. Although Gin actually originates in The Netherlands, it became popular in English soldiers who were placed in India, who began to consume gin to improve the taste of tonic water, a quinine based drink that helped prevent malaria. It was here that by chance on of the most famous cocktails of all time was invented, the Gin and Tonic. Gin has seen a revival over the past few years and is now a very fashionable drink choice, although English Gin is still queen. Premium gins are also produced in other countries, such as Spanish Gin, Scotish Gin, and American Gin. Each gin offers its own particular style depending on the botanicals used.
