About Granbazán Etiqueta Ambar

If we are talking about Albariño, we have to mention Granbazán. The family project was started by the nobleman Manuel Otero y Otero in 1965 when he bought a farm in Cambados (Rías Baixas), and was finally launched by his son Manuel Otero Candeiro under the name Agro de Bazán. A winery that, since its inception, has sought to enhance the value of the region's native grape variety par excellence and that, without sparing resources, has managed to become an example for neighbouring wine companies. This is beautifully enhanced by the construction of a neo-colonial style building reminiscent of Galician-Indian houses, from which unique single-varietal wines are produced that today reach more than 25 countries around the world.

Proof of this international recognition can be found in Granbazán Etiqueta Ambar. An albariño resulting from the selection of the best bunches from a 30-year-old vineyard located in Vilanova de Arousa, in the heart of the Salnés Valley, on granite soils. The vines are planted ‘on trellised vine,’ about 2 metres above the ground, to obtain the greatest exposure to wind and minimum humidity. After harvesting by hand, the grapes are selected, destemmed and cold macerated for 6 to 8 hours in the cellar. Only the free-run must is used, and fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 15 and 17 ºC. Finally, the wine matures on fine lees for 8 months, with routine racking.

This is how Granbazán Etiqueta Ambar is born. A job that is carefully done from start to finish and that results in the flagship wine of this family winery with a view of the world.
