About Dr. Loosen Gray Slate

Dr. Loosen Grey Slate is a monovarietal Riesling white wine produced by Dr. Loosen and rated as a VDP from Mosel-Saar-Ruwer.

Dr. Loosen is one of the world’s best Riesling producers. TheLoosen family, which still owns the winery, has been devoted to winemaking for over 200 years. Ernst Loosen was the latest member of the family to join the business, doing so in 1988. It has vineyards over 60 years old planted ungrafted, and produces around 70,000 bottles annually, making it one of the largest producers in Mosel.

The vineyards for Dr. Loosen Grey Slate have grey slate soils and terraces, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with temperature control in order to preserve and enhance the fresh and fruity aromas of the grape.

Dr. Loosen Grey Slate is a Riesling with a classic flavour and good structure, with aromas of pineapple, white peach and green apple over a final crunchy acidity.

2020

Dr. Loosen Gray Slate 2020 is a white wine with intense aromas of white fruits like pear and citrus fruits like grapefruit and lemon on the nose. The palate is crisp and well balanced with perfect acidity, a little residual sugar and a low alcohol content, which makes it a most refreshing and irresistible white wine.
2018 Dr. Loosen Grey Slate 2018 has a golden yellow colour, with a nose that reveals notes of citrus fruit and a mineral touch. Peach and citrus appear in the mouth. On the palate it displays a good acidity that balances the light sensation of final sweetness.
