Cune Crianza 2022 greets with a brilliant cherry-red hue that beckons one to delve into its essence. As the wine is brought closer to the nose, delightful aromas of ripe red fruits, such as strawberries and cherries, are unveiled, accompanied by a subtle hint of vanilla and sweet spices, a result of its aging in oak barrels. On the palate, it presents itself as well-balanced, with smooth tannins that envelop the mouth and a refreshing acidity that provides a long and pleasant finish. About Cune Crianza

Since 1879, the year of its establishment, Cune Crianza has consistently been a staple in the Rioja winery. There isn't a season that passes without a fine batch of this red wine, one of the house's best sellers.
 
To discover the essence and soul of Cune Crianza, one must delve back nearly a century and a half to the vineyards of Rioja Alta, the source from which this wine springs. Approximately half of these vineyards belong to the winery itself; the other half has traditionally been cultivated by local vignerons. Regardless, all plots are situated close to the facilities to ensure that Cune Crianza is always produced under optimal conditions. All grapes come from different terrains, with a wide variety of soils and orientations (so characteristic of the DOCa Rioja), with vines of varying ages, tended according to each producer's particular approach. Perhaps this diversity is the secret of Cune Crianza? Although the name remains the same, it's evident that no two vintages of this wine are ever alike. 
 
In the winery, the grapes for Cune Crianza are processed and crushed, then moved to 20,000-kilo stainless steel tanks where they ferment at a controlled temperature. During this period, which will last several weeks, délestages are crucial. This operation involves emptying the tank during fermentation, transferring the must to another container, and then reintroducing it into the initial tank. This process achieves greater extraction of aromas and colour as, when the tank is emptied, the cap (the layer of grape skins that forms at the top) sinks to the bottom and breaks when the must is reintroduced. After a few days, the wine is racked, and the solid parts are separated from the liquid, continuing with a malolactic fermentation. Finally, Cune Crianza is transferred to used American oak barrels, where it rests for a year. 
 
Each bottle of Cune Crianza holds not only a great red wine but also years and centuries of effort and dedication from generations of vintners. Cune Crianza is more than a wine; it is the renewal of a commitment that remains unaltered over time.

2019 Cune Crianza 2019 is a red wine that on the nose exudes delightful fragrances reminiscent of red fruits (raspberries, redcurrants, strawberries) intermingled with delicate hints of vanilla and toffee derived from its aging process. On the palate, it glides smoothly, characterized by gentle tannins, a mild acidity, and a pleasingly fresh finish.
