About Cune Imperial Reserva

Cune Imperial Reserva is a cask-aged red wine made with the Tempranillo, Mazuela and Graciano varieties by CVNE in the D.O.Ca. Rioja.

CVNE is a Riojan winery founded in 1879 in the heart of the Barrio de la Estación in Haro, in Rioja Alta. From then until now, five generations have worked the vineyard with a traditional work philosophy and without changing direction to continue making quality Rioja wines.

Cune Imperial Reserva comes from an estate with old vines over 40 years old and planted in poor soils of sand and lime. Traditional agriculture is practiced and the grapes are harvested by hand in 20 kg boxes and the best grapes are selected on the spot.

In the winery, Cune Imperial Reserva grapes ferment in French oak vats and remain there for a few days to extend maceration. Afterwards, malolactic fermentation and ageing takes place in French and American oak barrels for a minimum of 24 months.

Cune Imperial Reserva is a wine only made in years when the harvest is considered excellent. Its name was adopted after a special bottling was made for export to England under the name "Pinta Imperial".
