Alonso del Yerro Paydos is a red wine produced by Viñedos Alonso del Yerro, in Morales de Toro, Zamora. D.O.Toro.
In 2002, husband and wife, Javier Alonso and María del Yerro moved to the Santa Marta farm (Roa, Burgos), in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, with a clear enthusiasm for making quality wines. Assisted by the Bordeaux oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, they will soon make a name for themselves in the winemaking scene of their area.
In 2007 they bought Pagos del Miguel, an 8.8-hectare vineyard with vines of Tinta de Toro planted between 1930 and 1938. The area's climate is continental with extreme temperatures, a significant temperature amplitude and an annual rainfall of less than 400mm.
Alonso del Yerro Paydos was born from this farm. It is a vineyard located at an average altitude of 700 metres above sea level, with a plantation frame of 750 vines per hectare. The entire vineyard is planted in a vase shape and has a yield of 1.5 kilogrammes per vine. Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard and in the winery. 26 days of maceration in 50Hl deposits. Extraction with pump-overs and punch-downs. Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Ageing on its fine lees for 15 months.
