About Victoria Torres Malvasía Seco

Victoria Torres Malvasía Seco is a single-variety Malvasia white wine produced by the Matías i Torres winery under the DO. La Palma in the Canary Islands .

 

The Victoria Torres Malvasía Seco wine is made with bunches which come from vineyards located in the southwest, at 400 meters’ altitude on the slope of the San Antonio volcano where poor, light volcanic soils predominate.

 

Malvasia is a variety which requires discerning viticulture. When they reach the winery, the bunches undergo a film maceration for a few hours and begin alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and with their own yeasts. The end of fermentation takes place in used oak barrels with a capacity of 500 liters, a process that can be prolonged for several months.

 

The resulting wine is aged for four months in used 500-liter oak barrels.

 

Victoria Torres Pecis has a love for wine and vineyards in her veins. She’s the fifth generation of the Matías i Torres winery and she learned to make artisan wine thanks to the influence of her father. She’s currently the spearhead of this project which guides us through the Canarian volcanic landscapes and its incomparable vineyards thanks to its unadorned wines, of simple but complex production, where the Canarian Malvasia, the standard of the island, shows its most authentic and personal side.

2018 Victoria Torres Malvasía Seco 2018 is a white wine which on the nose reminds us of citrus fruits, honey, ginger and herbs. On the palate it’s dry and mineral, with a subtle saline nuance. It’s a strong and powerful white wine, with a firm and long mid palate.
