About Tornatore Etna Bianco Pietrarizzo

Sicily has every good reason to boast about its ancient winemaking tradition. Legacy has it that the first vines appeared spontaneously before the Greeks arrived on the island, who are considered the great masterminds of viticulture in Sicily. Among the old and well-established wineries in the area, the Tornatore family stands out for its roots in the Etna terroir dating back to 1865. Francesco Tornatore took over this heritage in 2010 with the creation of a beautiful wine estate in the village of Castiglione di Sicilia, on the north side of the Etna volcano (Sicily). There, living with the vines planted by his great-grandfather, he is committed to local varieties and developing a unique mineral terroir.

One of his most significant creations is Tornatore Etna Bianco Pietrarizzo, a white wine that comes from Pietrarizzo, one of the vineyards considered by the local growers as one of the most precious crus. A single-variety wine made with Carricante growing on volcanic origin soils made up of a blend of lava, ash and lapilli accumulated over the centuries. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in 50 hl oak barrels at controlled temperatures in the winery. The wine then rests on the lees for about 5 months before bottling.

That means Tornatore Etna Bianco Pietrarizzo highlights the extraordinary quality of the cru it comes from. A DOC Etna Bianco characterised by vibrant freshness and a delicious mineral touch.

Tornatore Etna Bianco Pietrarizzo 2020 is an aromatic white wine with aromas of exotic fruits, citrus notes and herbal hints. On the palate it is savoury, fresh and deep. A wine with extraordinary complexity, incredible sweetness of taste and a persistent finish.
