About Figuero Asomo Tempranillo

Although the winery was established in 2001, the Garcia Figuero family has been devoted to their vineyards for many years. However, the winemaking endeavour began when José María García and Milagros Figuero married in 1961 and were gifted 1,000 vines planted in the municipality of La Horra, within the DO. Ribera del Duero. Observing that their diligent efforts were rewarded with grapes of the highest quality, they decided to embark on producing wines of superior calibre. As the family themselves state, “We want our winery and the wines that emerge from it to be a reflection of generations of experience, hard work, and tenacity.”

With 45 hectares of vineyard, 25 of which are over 60 years old, they cultivate grapes with small, fleshy berries rich in polyphenols. This high-quality raw material allows the production of Figuero Asomo Tempranillo. This is a red wine of the Tempranillo variety, sourced from old vines planted in clay soils with silt, sand, and gravel, at an altitude of 802 meters above sea level. Once the fruit is harvested, it is selected at the winery, destemmed, and crushed. Fermentation is conducted at a controlled temperature, followed by ageing for 4 months in oak barrels, 50% American and 50% French.

The result is Figuero Asomo Tempranillo, an intense and fresh wine that embodies the character of the Ribera del Duero, balancing tradition and modernity, and expressing the Garcia Figuero family's passion for vinicultural excellence.
