About Tamerán Vijariego Blanco

If there is one person who has championed the typicity of the Canary Islands it is, without a doubt, Jonatan García from Suertes del Marqués. Something that footballer and wine lover, David Silva, noticed right away and didn’t want to miss out on. That is why when he had a dream to create quality wines in his native Gran Canaria he did not hesitate to invite the great winemaker of the Orotava Valley to join in with the project. The alliance was forged when Silva found a vineyard for sale on the border between the towns of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Santa Lucía, in the centre of Gran Canaria. The sale took place in 2019 and it had already begun to bear fruit in 2021 with 5 bottles of single-variety white wines and a claret made with native varieties.

One of the first creations is Tamerán Vijariego Blanco, a white wine made with the Vijariego Blanco variety from vines planted in volcanic soil with vegetation cover at 620-700 metres above sea level. They are cultivated using respectful agriculture, resulting in a concentrated grape thanks to a tropical climate with great temperature variations and significant hydric stress. Then in the winery, the grapes ferment with native yeasts in 500 litre foudres, where the wine spends 9 months on the lees before bottling.

Tamerán Vijariego Blanco is released for sale with a mineral, elegant and fine profile. A wine that perfectly reflects the uniqueness of the volcanic soils in the D.O. Gran Canaria.

 

2020

Tamerán Vijariego Blanco 2020 is a white wine with a fragrant nose of yellow fruit, almond notes and saline hints. On the palate it is fresh, direct and vibrant. A clean and lively wine with a low alcohol content, marked acidity and an attractive mineral finish.
