About Son Prim Blanc de Merlot

Envision a wine that defies convention: a white crafted from the red merlot grape, a true blanc de noirs, transforming the unexpected into a delightful experience.

This wine emerges from the curiosity and passion of Jaime Llabrés, who in the early nineties planted an experimental plot in Mallorca (Spain) with a “tutti-frutti” of vines, testing the adaptation of varieties like chardonnay, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot to the Mediterranean sun and breeze. The initial wines were crafted under the shade of a gigantic carob tree, in small stainless steel tanks and aged in barrels sheltered by a cellar in Palma (Mallorca) that functioned as an improvised winery, resulting in small treasures full of character and personality.

Son Prim, rooted in Sencelles (Mallorca), today represents a blend of tradition and modernity. After years of familial growth and artisanal care, a new winery was erected, combining state-of-the-art technology with the philosophy of keeping every detail of the process close to the vineyard. The Llabrés family continues to nurture their connection to the land and oversee every step, from cluster selection to cold fermentation and extended skin contact, ensuring wines that are pure, intense, and with significant aging potential.
