Rodrigo Méndez Cíes Blanco 2025 dazzles with its pale yellow hue and greenish glints, enveloping the senses with a fresh and vibrant aura. Upon bringing it to the nose, floral notes and white fruits such as green apple and pear are discerned, interwoven with subtle citrus nuances and a mineral hint. On the palate, it is distinguished by its balanced acidity and silky texture, rounded by barrel aging, which imparts depth and a lingering finish. The 2025 vintage was particularly favourable, resulting in a wine that marries freshness with complexity, ideal for those who seek to savour a young white with character and personality.

About Rodrigo Méndez Cíes Blanco

For several generations, the Méndez family has been dedicated to the production of albariños in the Rías Baixas, where the traditional method of barrel fermentation has always been the preferred approach. Today, Rodrigo, the latest link in this lineage, continues this work, which has led him to be regarded as one of the finest oenologists in Galicia. From his winery in Meaño, in Pontevedra, this wine virtuoso crafts Rodrigo Méndez Cíes Blanco, a single-varietal albariño partially fermented in barrels (as it was done in the past), which has come to be considered a true masterpiece. 
 
Both connoisseurs and those familiar with him assert that Rodrigo Méndez knows the family trellised vineyard "like the back of his hand." Here, at an altitude of approximately 70 metres on granitic and sandy soils, century-old vines (planted by his grandfather) coexist with younger ones in the Concello de Meaño, from where Rodrigo Méndez Cíes Blanco originates.
 
After the manual harvest, the grapes of Rodrigo Méndez Cíes Blanco are taken to the winery where they are selected and pressed. 80% of this must will ferment in barrels, while the remaining 20% will do so in stainless steel tanks. Once the yeasts have completed their work, Rodrigo Méndez Cíes Blanco is left to rest for several months (always less than a year) in the same barrels where fermentation took place. 
 
Rodrigo Méndez Cíes Blanco is the most intimate and personal project of Rodrigo Méndez: the ideal albariño to discover the Atlantic essence and the soul of Galicia.
