About Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva

Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva is a splendid red wine crafted by Bodega La Rioja Alta in the DOCa. Rioja in Haro, one of the towns with the highest concentration of wineries worldwide.

It is a blend of tempranillo (sourced from vineyards over 40 years old located in the towns of Briñas, Labastida, and Villalba), and graciano, cultivated in their own estates in Briones and Rodezno.

The harvest is conducted manually, and the grapes undergo a meticulous selection process. Following alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva ages for several years in American oak barrels crafted at the winery's cooperage. Every six months, it is racked using the traditional barrel-to-barrel method. After this period, Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva rests for a few more years in the bottle.

Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva undergoes a very gentle filtration to preserve its organoleptic components to the fullest. This means that, with age, it may develop some sediment.

Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva is an exceptional wine, one of the finest examples of Rioja's long aging tradition, achieving its first vintage as Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva in 2015, after more than 100 years of history.

Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva Selección Especial 2015 is presented with an elegant ruby red hue with brick-like edges. Upon approaching the glass, it awakens the senses with its fresh and intense aroma, where notes of candied fruits, such as plums and cherries, intertwine with a subtle balsamic and spicy touch. On the palate, it offers excellent structure and roundness, with sweet tannins that envelop the mouth thanks to its prolonged ageing. Its finish is smooth and enduring, leaving a pleasant sensation. Recommended for its balanced character, the result of a privileged vintage.
2011

Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva 2011 is an opulently aged red wine, exuding profound and intricate aromas of candied red and black fruits, layered with spicy and balsamic notes, complemented by hints of toasted oak. 2010

Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva 2010 is an aged red wine boasting intricate scents of stewed red fruit, balsamic hints of vanilla, and nuances of wood and caramelized sugar. On the palate, it is velvety, smooth, and refined. This medium to full-bodied wine possesses delicate tannins and a superbly balanced freshness. The finish is extensive and persistent. 
2007 Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva 2007 is one of the great expressions of the Classic Rioja wines. It is only made in very good vintages, like this one of 2007, so that the fruit can stand the long ageing. As a result, we have a mature and delicate red wine, where the tertiary aromas of the ageing, like leather, perfectly combine with the black fruit. A delight to enjoy in a relaxed way.
2001 This is a structured, round wine with sweet tannins, elegantly polished during its long ageing in barrels and in the bottle. Broad after-taste which provides a soft and persistent finish.

Ruby red colour with brick red edges and a medium robe. A very bright wine with fine and elegant tears tears on the glass.

High intensity nasal aromas. A fresh and crispy wine with refined notes of candied fruits and a touch of liquor which appear on a balsamic and spiced background with notes of leather, coffee and minty chocolate.
2000 This red wine shows a good structure, a great balance and silky tannins, polished during its long ageing in barrels and in the bottle. Wide after-taste which provides a soft and persistent finish.

Nice brick red colour with iodized edges and a medium robe.

High intensity aromas, in which the refined notes of ripe prunes, raisins and candied fruits stand out on a background of cinnamon, clove and mentholated chocolate.
1998 Excellent wine with a soft, intense and very nice attack. It has a well-bodied and bulky mid palate in which the wine coats the mouth with silkiness and the elegant notes felt on the nose are noticed again. Tasty and meaty wine with a very good acidity and well-integrated tannins. It is very well structured and balanced and has a very long and persistent finish.

Deep and intense red colour, with brick-red edges. Clean and bright wine with a high layer and elegant tears.

Intense, elegant and complex aromas. Its marked and expressive spicy notes are released along with a touch of vanilla and chocolate, serious toasted and smoked aromas and subtle hints of animal leather on a background of intense ripe black fruit, almost jam. Some elegant balsamic notes are also discreetly released.
1997 A good, nice and meaty attack. Silky, velvety mid palate in which the fruit, balsamic and spicy notes we found in the nose appear again. Good acidity that gives lightness to the wine. Long and persistent finish. An elegant and round wine. A good classic.

Red wine with brick colour trims which are typical of great superior wines that have spent much time in wood. Clean and bright. Good tears.

Its aromatic intensity and complexity define this wine in which the notes of balsamic and spicy appear with touches of noble leather and snuff on a background with a good burden of ripe red fruit and notes of good quality oak.
