About Riffault Sancerre Auksinis

Riffault Sancerre Auksinis is a natural white wine made with Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the AOC Sancerre, in the Loire area, produced by Sebastien Riffault.

Sebastien Riffault produces unique Sancerre wines. He works the vineyards biodynamically and produces by following the principles of natural winemaking. His domaine was founded in 2002 and he has always sought to ensure that his wines are the true reflection of the grapes and the soils of his vineyards.

The vineyards for Riffault Sancerre Auksinis are southeast and south-facing, are between 40 and 60 years old and are planted on clay-calcareous soils that are tilled with horses. All the plots are harvested manually when they are really ripe.

Riffault Sancerre Auksinis ferments with native yeasts for about three months at a controlled temperature of 15 to 20ºC and then undergoes maturing on lees for 24 months in used French oak barrels. Lastly it is bottled without adding sulphites to the wine.

Riffault Sancerre Auksinis is a wine that is different to the usual Sancerre wines. A voluminous, mineral wine with creamy touches as a result of a long ageing on lees in the barrel.
2011 Riffault Sancerre Auksinis 2011 is a wine with aromas of pink grapefruit, crepes, flan and fresh honey. On the palate it is exuberant, expressive and very mineral. It is a powerful but balanced wine that harmoniously combines its host of flavours and retro-nasal aromas.
