About Rico - Nuevo Jirón de Niebla

Rico-Nuevo Jirón de Niebla is a barrel-aged red wine made with the Garnacha variety in the D.O. Cebreros (Castilla y León) by the Rico-Nuevo Viticultores winery.

Juan Andrés Martín Pérez, known as Juanan, set up this small project, which is named after the nickname given to his great-grandfather: Nuevo Rico. All of his work is a tribute to the four generations of winegrowers who have gone before him. He promotes old vines, the granite terroir and village wines.

The Rico-Nuevo Jirón de Niebla wine comes from the area of “El Sotillo”, a vineyard planted with old Garnacha vines planted in granite soil and facing north. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.

When the Rico-Nuevo Jirón de Niebla grapes reach the winery, they are meticulously selected before being gently crushed. They then macerate and ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. Finally the wine ages in barrels and eggs for 3 months. It is bottled without filtering or clarifying and may contain sediments.

Rico-Nuevo Jirón de Niebla is made by a very individual project that seeks to showcase the marked character of this wine region that is getting more and more popular. Fresh minerality.

Exquisite - Nuevo Jirón de Niebla 2019 is a succulent red wine brimming with luscious red fruit aromas, complemented by floral undertones and spicy hints. On the palate, it is forthright, light, and velvety. A tantalizing wine with vibrant acidity and a protracted, mineral finish.
2018 Rico-Nuevo Jirón de Niebla 2018 is a juicy wine with aromas of fresh red fruit, floral notes and spicy touches. On the palate it is direct, fruity and fresh. An easy to drink wine, that is long and has a marked mineral background.
