About Regina Vides

Ribera del Duero is the birthplace of great red wines. Together with La Rioja, this Denomination of Origin (D.O.), located in Castile and León (at the confluence of Soria, Burgos, Segovia and Valladolid), is a living testimony of a tradition that goes back 2,500 years, where respect for the terroir has always been the main goal.

Under this premise, in 1992 Satre Brothers emerged, a family winery where tradition and respect for the land is the vision guiding this company where they produce Regina Vides, a unique plot red wine. The vineyards of Regina Vides are located in Las Tenada, in La Horra (Burgos). The 90-year-old vines grow on the slopes of the Duero and Gromejón river, between 814 and 840 meters above sea level, on calcareous clay soil. The wide temperature range between day and night, typical of the continental climate, favors the deposition of anthocyanins (the pigments responsible for giving color to red varieties). Respect for the land - cultivated naturally without mineral fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides - is the main focus of Hermanos Sastres. All work is done by hand: from the manual harvest (in boxes of 12 kg), to the double selection of the best grapes (both in the field and in the winery).

In the winery, the land continues to be the undisputed star, listening to the terroir and letting the vineyard speak. Each batch of grapes is worked separately, dividing the vines into different tanks, where they will ferment with native yeasts at a temperature controlled by refrigerated jackets. Once this process is finished, Regina Vides is transferred to French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation will be the starting point for an ageing process that will last 18 months. Finally, around the months of December and January, the barrels will be taken outside so the winter cold (where temperature reaches -15ºC) helps the natural stabilization of the wine.

2020

Enate Reserva 2017 entices us with its bouquet of ripe plums and blackberries, interwoven with hints of cocoa and a dash of spices. On the palate, it envelops one in a mélange of flavors where the dark fruit melds with a subtle toasted and smoky nuance, forging an impeccable balance with a delicate bitterness. Its texture is velvety, beckoning one to savor its intensity and refinement with every sip.

2018

Regina Vides 2018 is a concentrated red wine with complex aromas of ripe black fruit, spicy notes, hints of aromatic herbs and a mineral background. On the palate it’s sweet, deep and enveloping. A medium-bodied wine with silky tannins and well-integrated acidity. The finish is long and persistent with hints of menthol.

2016

Regina Vides 2016 is a complex and robust red wine. Olfactorily, it exhibits a persistent and nuanced bouquet, distinguished by a diverse range of aromas such as a mineral undertone (tar, charcoal, and peat), spiced notes (cinnamon, pepper, and a hint of vanilla), red caramel, wood, aromatic herbs (sandalwood and thyme), dark fruit fragrances, toasted scents, and coffee. On the palate, it is flavorful, with the fruity character enduring, supported by a well-structured body, refined tannins, and flavors of fresh dark fruit, compote, cocoa, menthol, aromatic herbs, and coffee bean.
