About Pizarras de Otero

Pizarras de Otero is a monovarietal Mencía red wine produced in Bierzo by Bodega Cuatro Pasos.

Bodega Cuatro Pasos is a winery in Bierzo created in 2003 by Bodegas Martín Códax, from Pontevedra.

Pizarras de Otero is harvested manually into 20 kg boxes. Once in the winery, the grapes go through sorting tables and then a cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10 ºC to extract and preserve the fruity aromas of the variety. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentation are performed in stainless steel tanks. In the end, it is clarified and bottled.

Pizarras de Otero is a varietal wine, a good expression of the young Mencia, prepared without barrel-ageing. A fresh and fruity wine with mineral touches, which demonstrates perfectly what the variety has to offer.
2017 Pizarras de Otero 2017 is a wine with a medium aromatic intensity, notes of forest fruit, cherry and violet, and a mineral base note. On the palate it is lingering and fresh, and has a fruity and spicy aftertaste that is characteristic of the variety.
