About Philippe Pacalet Meursault

Philippe Pacalet Meursault is a natural, single-variety Chardonnay white wine produced by Philippe Pacalet in the AOC Meursault / Côte-d'Or in Burgundy, France.

 

The Philippe Pacalet Meursault wine is made from clusters grown organically in southeast-facing vineyards with clay-calcareous soils. When the grapes reach the winery, they ferment with native yeasts and no added sulphur. The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in different batches and is aged on fine lees in 225-litre burgundy barrels for just over a year.

 

Philippe Pacalet is the nephew of Marcel Lapierre, an outstanding pioneer and champion of the natural wine movement and who had a significant influence on Philippe Pacalet, who works his vineyards with minimal intervention and bottles his wine without adding sulphites. He describes himself as an “unveiler of terroirs” because in each wine he works hard to respect and maximize the qualities and characteristics of the varieties and their environment. Wines with identity and character where nature and elegance go hand in hand.

 

2018 Philippe Pacalet Meursault 2018 is a white wine with floral and fruit aromas of apples and pears on the nose, accompanied by an empyreumatic note. On the palate it is well-defined, with a notable mineral nuance. A fresh and lively wine, with ripe fruit and fine acidity with the unmistakable and elegant hallmarks of Philippe Pacalet.
