About Perelada 5 Finques
In contradictions lies the grandeur of an impossible love. Much like the contrast between the sea, deep and ever-changing, and the mountain, steadfast and eternal, two seemingly opposing forces that, when united, unveil their unparalleled beauty. This very notion is mirrored in Mediterranean gastronomy, particularly in Catalan cuisine, where the concept of "mar y montaña" is a true celebration of the fusion of the unexpected. And what better example than dishes that combine the best of the sea—fresh fish and seafood—with the most savoury elements of the land—game meats, red meats, and vegetables? The result is a symphony of flavours that, when combined, create a surprising and delightful experience.
In this context, Perelada epitomises this fusion between sea and mountain. Situated in the northeastern tip of Catalonia, on the border with France, this winery enjoys a privileged location where the mountains embrace the sea, creating a perfect natural environment for vineyard cultivation. The richness of these landscapes is particularly reflected in their wines, which capture the essence of the territory and the freshness of the surrounding air.
Under the Denomination of Origin Empordà, Perelada offers us an incredible variety of wines that reflect the rich diversity of the soils and the traditional varieties of the region. A clear example of this wealth is Perelada 5 Finques, a wine born from the winery's five estates, each with its own character and personality. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, garnacha, merlot, monastrell, samsó (carignan), and syrah that, after a long maceration, undergoes an ageing process of 16 months in French and American oak barrels, in proportions of 50%, which imparts an unmistakable complexity and smoothness. The process culminates with a period of refinement in the bottle, achieving the perfect balance to offer us a unique experience.
Thus, Perelada 5 Finques is not just a wine, it is a tale of contrasts that meet. An ode to the harmony between sea and mountain, land and the art of fine wine. Because, as in any good story, opposites not only attract but create magic when they come together.
