About Nicolas Gauffroy Bourgogne Chardonnay

Like many other esteemed domains in Burgundy, Domaine Gauffroy boasts a storied past. The narrative began in 1900 when Madame Marguerite Perreaux wed Paul Gauffroy, and together they tended to the various vineyards owned in the renowned village of Meursault. Since then, three generations have cultivated the estate, steadfastly adhering to the rich winemaking heritage that has come to define their wines. Currently encompassing 7 hectares of vineyards, the latest scion, Nicolas Gauffroy, melds the accumulated family wisdom with cutting-edge techniques gleaned from his experiences in other French wine regions.

It is with this confluence of tradition and innovation that we are introduced to Nicolas Gauffroy Bourgogne Chardonnay, a white wine nested within the AOC Bourgogne crafted from the indigenous chardonnay grape variety sourced from old vines rooted in calcareous soil, cultivated with reverence and handpicked at the pinnacle of ripeness. In the winery, only the finest grapes are selected, destemmed, and gently crushed. The resulting must ferments with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels, whereafter the wine is matured for a minimum of 12 months in these same vessels prior to bottling.

As a familial legacy that has withstood the test of time, Nicolas Gauffroy Bourgogne Chardonnay is more than just a label. It stands as a true homage to the tradition and vinicultural excellence that has brought such renown to the Burgundy region.
