About Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva
Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva is a Gran Reserva red wine made with Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta and Graciano varieties in the D.O.Ca. Rioja by the Marqués de Cáceres winery.
The Marqués de Cáceres winery was founded by Enrique Forner in 1970 in the town of Cenicero (Logroño). A businessman who revolutionised the concept of Rioja wine after training for years in the French city of Bordeaux. The name of the winery comes from an old marquis family friend who had a great love for wines made in the purest Bordeaux style, and who gave his title to the winery. Currently, the fifth generation Cristina Forner, follows in the family footsteps by promoting a way of working that is focussed on the quality of their wines.
All the Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva vineyards are located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa at an altitude of between 400 and 650 metres above sea level. Plots of mainly clayey-calcareous soil with strains ranging from 35 to 85 years old. The harvest is carried out manually, plot by plot.
Once in the winery, the clusters are pressed and destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation of the Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva is carried out at a maximum constant temperature of 28ºC. It is macerated for 30 days with its own skins. Malolactic fermentation takes place partly in new French oak barrels, and partly in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages for 24 months in French oak barrels and is refined for 4 years in the bottle.
Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva is a classic wine that is only made with the best vintages.
