About Louis Latour Les Pierres Dorées
The house of Louis Latour has remained steadfast over its 200-year history for its ability to adapt to new challenges. As one of the most renowned houses in Burgundy, it dares to step out of its comfort zone in Beaune to spread its expertise to other wine-growing regions such as Ardèche, Var, and Beaujolais. In doing so, it seeks out unique historical plots that are cultivated with the utmost respect based on the specific environmental conditions of the location, resulting in a comprehensive and varied portfolio of the highest quality. Over 40 references are available on the market, found across the globe's finest establishments.
One such example is Louis Latour Les Pierres Dorées, a wine originating from the heart of Beaujolais (in southern Burgundy), specifically in the villages of Morancé and Theizé. Its name, Pierres Dorées (golden stones), is derived from the clay-limestone soil composition, tinted with iron oxides, giving it a distinctive ochre hue. Spanning a total of 20 hectares of pinot noir (where gamay was previously planted) at altitudes ranging from 280 to 400 meters above sea level, the vineyards are tended with care to ensure maximum freshness and concentration. Once in the winery, traditional fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 10-12 months in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
The result is Louis Latour Les Pierres Dorées, a wine that captures the essence of the southern Burgundian terroir, distinguished by its balance and liveliness. A unique sensory experience of freshness and depth that will undoubtedly captivate you from the first sip.
