About L'Archetipo Primitivo Salento

L'Archetipo Primitivo Salento is a red wine crafted by Azienda L'Archetipo in the IGT Salento, located in the south of Italy, in Puglia. This introduction may not immediately capture your attention; however, if you continue reading, we assure you will discover one of the finest wines available.

Completely biodynamic and natural, L'Archetipo Primitivo Salento is a wine cultivated with meticulous care. Its production is overseen by the Dibenedetto family, prominently featuring Francesco Valentino, the patriarch and true pioneer who introduced new cultivation methods and concepts to this region. In fact, according to his own opinion, the worst invention ever discovered is the mechanical plough, as it disrupts the humus, the layer of soil where the plant's true nourishment resides. Previously, when tasks were manual, ploughs did not penetrate too deeply; however, that has changed with the advent of machinery in agriculture, eradicating this layer of significant organic activity. In complete disagreement with this practice, Francesco Valentino opted for organic conversion in the 1980s, which later evolved into biodynamic practices. This means that every element and living being in the vineyard, no matter how small, has a specific role within a larger ecosystem. In this regard, Francesco Valentino has studied it thoroughly and knows that his soils are rich in siliceous-calcareous gravels and fractured limestone clays. And bingo! This type of soil is exceptionally rich in humus!

L'Archetipo Primitivo Salento ferments spontaneously using indigenous yeasts and is bottled to rest in two types of materials. On one hand, stainless steel tanks; and on the other, wooden barrels.

Gradually, sip by sip, L'Archetipo Primitivo Salento offers a true lesson in respect for natural balance.
