About Joseph Drouhin Chablis Vaudesir Grand Cru

Joseph Drouhin Chablis Vaudesir Grand Cru is a white biodynamic wine cask made by Joseph Drouhin in the AOC Chablis Grand Cru appellation, in Burgundy, with the Chardonnay variety.
 
Founded in Beaune in 1880, the Joseph Drouhin winery has expanded over the years to the Moulin de Vaudon, an 18th century mill in Chablis. Today, the fourth generation owns some of the most famous vineyards in Burgundy, with almost 90 different designations of origin allowing them to produce authentic wines with subtle variations. 
 
Joseph Drouhin Chablis Vaudesir Grand Cru comes from a famous 1.4 ha vineyard in the shape of an amphitheater. It’s one of the seven Chablis Grand Crus that Robert Drouhin recovered from the devastating phylloxera a century earlier. They’re 30-year-old vines planted in Kimmeridgian limestone soils with millions of embedded small marine fossils. Ecological agriculture is practiced and the harvest is carried out manually. 
 
In the winery, the Joseph Drouhin Chablis Vaudesir Grand Cru grapes are pressed very slowly and once the must has fermented, it’s left to age in French oak barrels for 12 months.
 
As with all Joseph Drouhin wines, Joseph Drouhin Chablis Vaudesir Grand Cru shows the true expression of the terroir. A wine of great purity, pleasant floral style and delicious mineral character.
 
2018 Joseph Drouhin Chablis Vaudesir Grand Cru 2018 is a creamy white wine with fresh aromas of flowers and citrus fruits and herbaceous touches. On the palate, it’s unctuous, balanced and very elegant. It shows outstanding acidity, light saline notes and a lingering, persistent finish.
