About João Tavares de Pina Rufia! Branco

João Tavares de Pina Rufia! Branco is a coupage of white varieties elaborated by João Tavares de Pina in the Dão DOC, in the Beiras region, in the centre interior of Portugal.

There, in Quinta da Boavista specifically, at an altitude of 500 metres, the grapes that will give life to João Tavares de Pina Rufia! Branco. There are 13 hectares in total, located between the Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrela, which is under the influence of an oceanic climate, with cold wet winters and mild, dry summers.

Excellence will continue to prevail in the production of João Tavares de Pina in the Dao DOC, which is based on spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks with native yeasts, low sulphur content, without filtration and with a tendency to eliminate wood.

The wines of the D.O. Dão have traditionally been considered to be tannic and aggressive. Nowadays that has changed and the best example of this is the finesse and freshness of João Tavares of Pina Rufia! Branco. The way to relive the Portuguese summer without having to move around.

João Tavares de Pina Rufia! Branco 2019 is a blend of Encruzado, Erceal branco, Malvasia, Biscal and Arinto. It’s an aromatic wine, with notes of apricot, peach, almonds and dried fruits on the nose. On the palate it stands out for its medium body, with just the right touch of tannins and acidity, where pear and apple excel.
