About Jaboulet Hermitage Maison Bleue
Considering that Hermitage is a denomination in the Rhone Valley in France, known for producing high quality red wines using the Syrah grape variety, Hermitage “La Chapelle” is one of its most iconic wines and one of the most prestigious in the world. Created by the renowned Paul Jaboulet Aîné winery, one of the oldest and most prestigious wine houses in the region, it is made from selected vineyards located next to the chapel at the top of the Hermitage hill (hence the name). But while Hermitage “La Chapelle” is their most famous and iconic wine, the winery strives to maintain high quality standards in all their products, so among their collection there are more great quality, prestigious wines.
Their Jaboulet Hermitage Maison Bleue encompasses all the charm of the AOC Hermitage at its very best. Under the guidance of the prestigious oenologist Caroline Frey, the Syrah grapes come from about 100 hectares of vineyards that are cultivated with respect and rigour. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are carefully harvested and taken to the winery straight away. They are then carefully sorted and pressed. The wine is then fermented in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures and finally aged for a few more months in 225-litre French oak barrels for 12 to 24 months.
Caroline Frey and her team craft Jaboulet Hermitage Maison Bleue as part of their constant quest for perfection. A wonderfully powerful varietal wine with a fruity character that showcases the extraordinary charm of the Syrah variety in a unique terroir.
2018 | Jaboulet Hermitage Maison Bleue 2018 is a richly concentrated red wine, exuding aromas of ripe black fruit, complemented by undertones of smoky earth and hints of oak. On the palate, it is a fortified wine, refined and exceedingly graceful. This medium to full-bodied wine boasts seamlessly integrated acidity and silky tannins. The finish is extensive and enduring. |
