About Heinrich Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC

Heinrich Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC is an organic, biodynamic white wine made from the Chardonnay variety in Leithaberg, Burgenland (Austria).

Gernot and Heike Heinrich founded their winery in 1990 with the premise of "less is more". To that end, they use native varieties of grape, organic cultivation and low-intervention winemaking. As a result, they obtain wines of renowned quality.

Heinrich Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC comes from vineyards of the white Chardonnay variety on the slopes of the Leitha mountain. They’re vines planted in limestone and shale soils where organic farming is practiced using biodynamic techniques and without using chemical products.

In the cellar, Heinrich Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC grapes are left for a few hours in the skins and stems. They then ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and age for 32 months on its lees in large 500-liter oak barrels.

Heinrich Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC is a white wine which honestly expresses the soul of its roots. An extraordinary combination of lightness and depth.

2017 Heinrich Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC 2017 is a profiled white wine with aromas of flowers and yellow fruit, notes of wild herbs and hints of limestone. On the palate it’s flavorsome, intense and with an invigorating acidity. The finish is pleasant and deliciously mineral.
