About González Byass Matusalem Cream Oloroso Dulce VORS

Matusalem Cream Oloroso Dulce VORS is a generous wine made with Palomino Fino and Pedro Ximénez varieties, with over 30 years of ageing in the traditional Jerez system of criadera and soleras, produced by González Byass.

González Byass is the quintessential Jerez winery. Founded in 1835, the first export to London was made that same year; an exporting spirit that is still alive today, since 70% of its production is sold outside of Spain.

Olorosos Dulces are also calledCream, due to their smoothness, sweetness and creaminess.

VORS in the name tells us the age of a Sherry wine. It is an acronym that means "Very Old Rare Sherry", and refers to a wine that has an average age of over 30 years.

The grapes forMatusalem Cream Oloroso Dulce VORS are harvested by hand and pressed once they reach the cellar. The extracted must is fermented and the wine is fortified by adding wine alcohol, and it then undergoes ageing in the system of criaderas and soleras in 550 litre American oak barrels. The Cream is the result of the mixture of an Oloroso, Dry Generous Wine, with a Natural Sweet Wine, usually Pedro Ximénez. Each variety’s wines are combined after 4 years and then aged together until they exceed 30 years.

Matusalem Cream Oloroso Dulce VORS is an exceptional wine that perfectly combines an Oloroso, a dry generous wine, and a Pedro Ximénez, a Natural Sweet Wine. It has intense aromas of nuts, dates, raisins, honey, and the oxidative character of oloroso. On the palate it is elegant and velvety, complex and concentrated. It is balanced thanks to its sweetness and alcohol. Lingering and intense.
