Finca Calvestra is a white wine produced by Bodega Mustiguillo in Utiel (Valencia), V.P. El Terrerazo.
Bodega Mustiguillo is located in Terrerazo-Utiel (Valencia), and it has 87 hectares of its own vineyards in the farm Pago El Terrerazo. Due to its uniqueness, since 2010 this terroir has the privilege of being a new D.O.P. (Protected Denomination of Origin), also named Vino de Pago.
In 1999, Toni Sarrión started this project with the intention of focusing on producing wines with the native variety Bobal, a grape that, for many years, has been relegated to bulk and rosé wines that have not had a lot of thought put into them. He soon showed the world the potential of this magnificent grape and, in particular, in this unique site. His wines are pure personality, of the grapes and the surroundings where they grow.
The vineyard, cultivated organically, is located in the Valencian plateau, at 800 metres of altitude, on sandy-clay soils, on a layer of limestone, influenced by the Mediterranean climate.
Finca Calvestra is a wine made from Merseguera form the vineyard that has its name. It is located at 900 metres of altitude, planted on limestone soils with a silt-sandy texture.
The grapes are manually harvested and placed in 15-kg boxes, with grape selection in the vineyard and the winery. After a gentle destemming and crushing, the grapes ferment in oak barrels with native yeasts. Here, they age for 11 months on their fine lees. This wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering.
