About Filipa Pato & William Wouters 3B Rosé

A slogan, a short and memorable phrase that summarises a brand’s main message, is a powerful tool that allows you to create an emotional connection with the consumer and set yourself apart from the competition. So when Filipa Pato and Willian Wouters gave their wines the slogan “authentic wines, no masks” they wanted to communicate that their products are honest and faithful to their origins with no masks that could hide or alter their true flavour and character. Daughter of Luis Pato, a great champion of the Baga variety, she follows in her father’s footsteps in vindicating this native variety of the DOC Bairrada. To do this, her and her husband, Belgian sommelier William Wouters, they set up their own project in the village of Óis do Bairro in 2001 and, led by the slogan that characterises them, they created a collection of powerful, fresh wines with an Atlantic character.

Their Filipa Pato & William Wouters 3B Rosé is a sparkling wine made with their favourite varieties, Baga and Bical. The vines lie on calcareous clayey limestone slopes facing east towards the sun and with a very marked Atlantic influence. They are cultivated using biodynamic principles to maintain the maximum reflection of the terroir and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. In the winery, the selected grapes are lightly macerated and gently pressed. The resulting must is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and then the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, unfiltered and unclarified, where it remains for 9 months on the lees.  

Named Winemaker of the Year in 2020 by Revista de Vinhos, Filipa Pato is quite the rebel. A new generation winemaker who is obsessed with showing the expression of each terroir of Bairrada and who, under a slogan that describes the transparency of her productions, makes wines like this Filipa Pato & William Wouters 3B Rosé that have now found their way into more than 40 countries around the world. A real treat!
