About Enclòs de Peralba Soldons

Although they are young, they possess ample experience and are making a strong entrance. Like father, like son. And this heritage is directly inherited by Roc Gramona and Leo Gramona, two cousins who are fully embarking on Enclòs de Peralba, a new venture that fuses tradition and innovation.
 
In the realm of winemaking—specifically sparkling wines—both are quite knowledgeable. They have had plenty of time to learn at Gramona, the family winery. However, since 2017, the two have been involved in a completely independent project where they aim to revive the rich heritage of ancient Penedès: indigenous varieties, single-vineyard wines, and the purest expression of the deepest Penedès. All these aspects are embodied in Enclòs de Peralba Soldons, a marvellous single-varietal cariñena.
 
Enclòs de Peralba Soldons originates from an old plot located in the Central Penedès. With over 50 years of age (the vines were planted in 1972), this vineyard thrives on calcareous-clay soils at altitudes ranging between 200 and 550 metres. However, what truly distinguishes this area in southern Catalonia is its vast diversity of microclimates, making it a region rich in character where each plot and each terroir have their own unique identity. Specifically, in the case of Enclòs Peralba, both cousins have to manage the demands of their seven hectares of vineyard, which they cultivate organically and biodynamically. For Enclòs de Peralba Soldons, they count on the expertise of oenologist Josep Mitjans.
 
In the winery, stainless steel tanks, whole clusters, and indigenous yeasts are fundamental during the fermentation of Enclòs de Peralba Soldons. Equally important are the oak barrels where this red wine will spend approximately a year (including malolactic fermentation), transforming into one of the most powerful and intriguing reds of northeastern Spain.
