El Puntido 2020 unveils itself as a red wine of surprising maturity and refined elegance. On the nose, it greets us with the scents of ripe black fruits such as plums and blackberries, interwoven with a hint of gentle spices. Upon tasting, its concentration unfolds in layers of flavor, delivering a silky texture and a lingering finish that beckons one to continue savoring its complexity. About El Puntido
El Puntido is a red wine from the Rioja produced by the Viñedos de Páganos winery. This winery belongs to the Eguren Group, which owns other wineries such as Sierra Cantabria or Señorio de San Vicente.
Viñedos de Páganos is located in Páganos, a small village in the municipality of Laguardia, in Rioja Alavesa. Its facilities are carved into the rock, just below the vineyard.
El Puntido is a varietal Tempranillo. The grapes come from vineyards planted at an altitude of 600m on clay loam soil. The vineyard is 25ha and was planted in 1975. It supports an Atlantic climate with continental influences.
The development of El Puntido begins with a manual harvest and a double selection on the table, where the best clusters and the best beans are selected.
After selecting, the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 8-10 days at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30°C. During the fermentation, daily movements are performed 2 or 3 times per day during the first days, ending with a daily pumping.
After the fermentation process, the wine is left to macerate for three weeks.
The last step for preparation is aging in new French oak barrels for 18 months, in which the wine is aged on its lees during the first four months.

2016 | El Puntido 2016 is a concentrated red wine with intense aromas of very ripe red and black fruits, violet flowers and smoked and vanilla notes. On the palate it is voluminous, deep and complex. It reveals well integrated fine tannins, plenty of minerality and an incredibly fresh finish. | |

In the nose, it is a very complex wine, with a medium-high intensity, ripe fruit aromas and aromatic herbs. It expresses minerality. |

2009 | Upon the palate, it is flavoursome, indulgent, and exhibits a remarkable balance. This wine is destined for a long journey, leaving behind a lingering aftertaste of over-ripe fruit, coupled with hints of balsamic and spices. An elegant red wine, structured and complex, emblematic of the new wave of Rioja wines. Cherry garnet in colour with a dense tear. The nose is highly complex, with a medium to high intensity, redolent of ripe fruits and aromatic herbs, betraying a sense of minerality. |

2007 | On the palate this wine is tasty and very balanced. It's very long in the mouth, leaving a very ripe fruity aftertaste, along with balsamic aromas and spices. An elegant, structured and complex red wine, from the new generation of riojas. A picota red colour with a red-maroon rim. Dense tears show on the glass. Good complexity, medium-high intensity, with aromas of forest fruits and liqueur, well balanced with notes from its ageing: toasted notes, spices and milky touches. Mineral. |

2006 | Very good attack. Powerful and expressive wine with, sweet, silky and meaty mid palate. Good load of fruit (berries), along with good notes of toasted. Balanced and with a marked acidity. Soft tannins. Long and persistent aftertaste filled with lots of toasted and spicy aromas.

Cherry colour with violet trims. Medium-high robe. Dense tears. Intense and powerful aromas. At the beginning, it realeases its roasted, smoked, milky and spicy notes (cocoa, vanilla). When it opens up, the red fruit gains in intensity and complexity. Very harmonious. |
