About Eduardo Torres Acosta Quota Nave
Eduardo Torres Acosta Quota Nave is an ecological, wood-aged red wine made by Eduardo Torres Acosta. An original coupage of the Nerello Mascalese, Garnacha Tinta, Grecanico Dorato, Carricante and Coda di Volpe varieties from the IGT Terre Siciliana (Sicily).
Eduardo Torres Acosta is an intrepid winemaker who, having worked in the winemaking world with his father in his native Tenerife, moved to Sicily to learn from pioneers of modern viticulture like Arianna Ochipinti and Passopisciaro. In 2014, in the Sicilian town of Etna, he began to vinify his own limited production wines through ecological work and minimal intervention.
Eduardo Torres Acosta Quota Nave comes from a 0.5-hectare vineyard lying 1070 metres above sea level. These are 80 to 100 year old vines planted in sandy volcanic soils that are treated like real gems. They are also native variety vines that had been abandoned but were restored by Eduardo using completely ecological work.
Once the Eduardo Torres Acosta Quota Nave grapes have been manually harvested and taken to the winery, they spontaneously ferment with native yeasts, with minimal sulphur and no temperature control in concrete tanks. The wine then ages in foudres for 12 months with minimal racking to avoid CO2.
Made from a plot located on a mountain road called Nave, where the altitude exceeds the limits set by the DOC Etna Rosso, Eduardo Torres Acosta Quota Nave is a fresh, pure and characterful wine that is part of the IGT Terre Siciliana.
2019 | Eduardo Torres Acosta Quota Nave 2019 is a smooth red wine with penetrating aromas of red fruits, notes of roses and hints of dusty earth. On the palate it is pure, juicy and generous. A fresh wine with a deep flavour and a pleasantly mineral finish. |
