About Edouard Delaunay Bourgogne Pinot Noir
“Turn your life into a dream, and that dream into reality.” This renowned quote from "The Little Prince" penned by the illustrious French novelist and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry could very well serve as the daily mantra of Laurent Delaunay. In just two years, this visionary entrepreneur has not only fulfilled the dream of restoring his family's winery but has also succeeded in presenting a fresh perspective of Burgundy. To achieve this, he acquired the estate that his great-grandfather Edouard Delaunay purchased in 1893 and swiftly restored it to its former splendour, establishing it as one of the foremost wineries in the region.
Among the introductory wines of the winery, Edouard Delaunay Bourgogne Pinot Noir stands out as a fine exemplar. This wine pays tribute to the most pivotal month of the year in Burgundy, September, and lives up to its name. It is a cuvée with approximately 80% of the grapes originating from Côtes de Beaune and Nuits, and the remaining 20% augmented with wines from Couchois. The predominantly hand-picked harvest is followed by a meticulous selection upon arrival at the winery. There, it undergoes a brief cold maceration before fermentation. Half of the cuvée is aged in oak barrels, while the other half matures in stainless steel vats.
Consequently, Edouard Delaunay Bourgogne Pinot Noir is a cuvée that is fluid, crisp, and sophisticated. A dream actualised by the fifth generation Delaunay.
