About Dominio del Águila Albillo Viñas Viejas

Dominio del águila Albillo Viñas Viejas is a white wine produced by Dominio del águila in the town of La Aguilera, Burgos.

Dominio del Aguila is a winery created by Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero in 2010. Jorge started his oenology studies in Bordeaux and continued his professional career with emblematic wineries like Romanée-Conti and Vega Sicilia, until he arrived at the Arzuaga winery.

They cultivate 30 hectares of vineyard organically. The main variety is the Tempranillo with other local varieties such as Bobal, Grenache and Albillo, planted on clayey-sandy-rocky soils, depending on the plot.

The vineyard, which is over 85 years old, is also located in the municipality of La Aguilera. It is planted on sandy-calcareous soils at 900 metres of altitude. The main variety if the Tempranillo, but since it is an old vineyard, there are also some other minority varieties like the Bobal and the Albillo.

Dominio del águila Albillo Viñas Viejas is a wine made with Albillo from a century-old vineyard that has some pre-phylloxera vines.

After the manual harvest and once they arrive at the winery, the whole grape bunches are stomped and gently pressed. The resulting must ferments in French oak barrels at low temperatures for 10 months, with the whole lees and without any batonnage or racking.

2014 Dominio del Águila Albillo Viñas Viejas 2014 is a mature, voluminous and refined white wine. Without waiting for the regulatory council of D.O. Ribera del Duero to legalise the white wines of the area, Jorge presents his new vintage of this fabulous wine. Seductive on the nose, with aromas of ripe white fruit, yellow plum, with touches of flint and toast. In the mouth, it is full, silky, very balanced and with an eternal finish.
