About Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin

Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin is a barrel-aged red wine made with the Pinot Noir variety by Domaine Trapet Père et Fils in the AOC Gevrey-Chambertin (Burgundy).

Domaine Trapet is located in the town of Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of the prestigious Côte-d'Or. Jean-Louis Trapet, one of the most talented biodynamic winemakers in Burgundy, produces wines with great purity, finesse and elegance, and with a focus on respect for nature and the quality of the Grands Crus terroirs.

Certified as biodynamic since 2009, the Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards are made up of 8 different plots covering a total of 3 hectares. This is a diverse area of great terroirs with predominantly marl covered with scree and red silt soils. The vines are cultivated using only biodynamic practices, and the grapes are harvested by hand, with the selection process taking place there and then.

There is a second grape selection process in the winery, and up to 15% of the total harvest could be discarded. Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin is vinified using traditional methods. The grapes are firstly destemmed and fermented along with 30% of the stems. This takes place in open vats with native yeasts and minimal sulphur. The wine is then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels.

Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin is a delicious wine from one of the leading producers in Burgundy that has been committed to biodynamics since 1990. Very much one of the top Gevrey-Chambertin wines.
2017 Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin 2017 is a juicy red wine with intense aromas of ripe red fruit, violet floral notes and very pleasant earthy touches. On the palate it is very seductive and refined. A medium-bodied wine with versatile tannins, red fruit and touches of white pepper at the end.
