About Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin La Grange Vieilles Vignes
Although everyone would like to be invited to a Michelin-starred restaurant, not many people knew where this award system came from. It all started when brothers André and Edouard Michelin, working in the world of automobiles and their supply, realised that more and more people were travelling by car and needed to eat and sleep on the way. This is how the Michelin Guide was born in 1900, a manual that provided information on hotels, restaurants and roads and that, thanks to its great success, began to be marketed with a restaurant review. Today the stars awarded by the prestigious French guide are coveted by the best restaurants in the world. An award where cooking is not the only thing that matters. Wine also plays a fundamental role. A regular in hundreds of Michelin-starred restaurants and other major guides is Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin, a winery located 20 kilometres from Nantes, south of the Loire, which, with 38 hectares of vineyards on the sunny slopes of Sèvre et Maine, has the expertise necessary to produce prestigious Muscadets.
Made by a family winery with remarkable longevity, in 1970 Pierre Luneau began specialising in Muscadet. Although this grape actually originates in Burgundy under the name of Melon de Bourgogne, it is the queen grape of the Nantes wine region (France). With impeccable work, he soon became one of the main champions of the lower Loire. In 2005, his son Pierre-Marie Luneau took the reins of the vineyards and, with his wife Marie, continued the efforts of the eight generations that had come before him to develop a sustainable and traditional viticulture. As a result of these expertise, they produce Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin La Grange Vieilles Vignes, a wine from the AOC Muscadet Sèvre et Maine made with Melon de Bourgogne vines growing in their favourite land with soils composed of mica schist rocks and two-mica gneiss. They are cultivated using organic agriculture with biodynamic practices and manual harvesting by plot. Once the grapes reach the winery, they are vinified and aged separately, respecting the authenticity of each terroir. After spending time on its lees, the wine is bottled without filtration or clarification.
Made from small plots that are worked like real gardens, Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin La Grange Vieilles Vignes is a beautiful classic with a Muscadet identity. A sculpted and fresh estate wine that graces the shelves of starred restaurants around the world.
| 2020 |
Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin La Grange Vieilles Vignes 2020 is an aromatic white wine with pretty floral notes, hints of lemon zest and touches of nutmeg. On the palate it is fresh, crisp and lively. A wine with a lemony texture that caresses the palate and is supported by pleasant acidity. On the finish its seductive mineral influence stands out. |
