About Domaine Ostertag Les Jardins Riesling

Domaine Ostertag is a small family winery founded in 1966 in the village of Epfig, in Alsace. This is where André Ostertag, a biodynamic winegrower with pure vineyards, manages to faithfully express the character of the varieties and the terroirs. He makes fruit wines, terroir wines and sweet wines from 5 extraordinary vineyards at the foot of the Lower Rhine.

One example of his work is the Domaine Ostertag Les Jardins Riesling, a white wine made 100% with Riesling grapes grown on vines over 30 years old on soils of white sand, quartz, clay and marl. This is where André uses artisan cultivation that meticulously follows biodynamic guidelines.

When the grapes are well ripened, they are harvested and selected by hand ready to make the Domaine Ostertag Les Jardins Riesling wine. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. The resulting must is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and remains there, on lees, for 12 months.

Produced by a non-conformist winemaker, Domaine Ostertag Les Jardins Riesling is a fresh and mineral white wine that shows all the richness of the Lower Rhine vineyards.
