About Domaine de La Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Domaine de La Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a red wine coupage where the Grenache predominates and is accompanied by Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It is a wine from the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape produced by Domaine de la Janasse.
Domaine de la Janasse is a family winery founded in 1973. It started off owning 15 hectares and today has around 90. Thanks to its good work, the winery has in a few years come to be considered one of the flowers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The vineyards for Domaine de La Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape have sandy soils, pebbles and red clays. In total they add up to 10 hectares and are cultivated without the use of insecticides, herbicides or pesticides, and are fertilised with natural manure. The land is worked without weeding to maintain the aeration and flexibility of the soil. Their yields are low, from 25 to 30 hectolitres per hectare, and thus the vines produce a balanced and concentrated grape.
The grapes for Domaine de La Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape are harvested manually. Once in the winery, 80% of the clusters are destemmed and the rest are left whole. Once vatted, they ferment and macerate for a period of 21 to 28 days and daily battonages are performed to extract more colour and structure from the skins. Lastly, the wine ages, 80% in foudres and the rest in barrels (1/3 of which are new) for a total of 12 months.
Domaine de La Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a complex, structured and elegant wine that has known how to make the most out of each of the varieties that make it up.

2017 | Domaine de La Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2017 is a juicy red wine with delicious aromas of blackberry combined with notes of violet flowers. On the palate it is long, velvety and very broad. It reveals fine tannins and bright acidity. A wine with a great bottle-aging potential. | |
2013 | Domaine de La Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2013 has aromas of black fruit, blackberries and black currant, and touches of violet, plus balsamic and spicy elements. On the palate it is structured, lingering and silky, while at the same time lively and nervous. |
