About Cristom Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay

Cristom Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay is a barrel-aged white wine made by the Cristom winery with the Chardonnay variety in the American denomination of Villamette valley, Oregon.
 
Founded in 1992 by Paul Gerrie and his wife Eileen, Cristom Vineyards is a great producer of mainly Pinot Noir wines. Tom Gerrie and winemaker Steve Doerner are currently in charge of making their wines. These are elegant and dynamic productions that are the result of honest work in the vineyard and in the winery. 
 
Cristom Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay is a coupage of grapes from their own vineyards and neighbouring vineyards. These vines grow on volcanic soil and are cultivated with Sustainable Low Input Viticulture and Enology Certification (LIVE). This is an environment-friendly agriculture that allows the maximum expression of the Chardonnay variety in the Villamette Valley.
 
Once the Cristom Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay grape has been harvested at optimum ripeness, it is pressed with a quarter of the bunches left whole and the resulting must ferments in barrels with native yeasts. It then ages on its lees in old and new French oak barrels. Finally, the wine is clarified with egg whites and left unfiltered. 
 
Cristom Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay is the result of Cristom’s great commitment to growing more Chardonnay on his estate. He knows very well how to cultivate this variety in the most respectful way to achieve exquisite results. 
 
2018 Cristom Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay 2018 is a creamy white wine with aromas of ripe white fruit, notes of yellow stone fruit and hints of brioche. On the palate it is unctuous, rich and complex. A wine with integrated acidity, a persistent flavour and a long finish.
