About Convento San Francisco Primer Año

Convento San Francisco Primer Año is a red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero produced by the Convento San Francisco winery. It is a single-varietal wine made from the Tempranillo grape.

The grapes used for Convento San Francisco Primer Año are sourced from various vineyards situated at different altitudes and on diverse soil types. These vineyards range in age from 25 to 103 years and are located at elevations between 760 and 970 metres above sea level. The soils are sandy, clayey, and limestone in nature.

The grape harvest is conducted manually, using boxes with a maximum capacity of fifteen kilograms to prevent damage to the fruit. Following a gentle destemming process, the grapes are sorted on a vibrating table based on their weight and size. Subsequently, an alcoholic fermentation process is carried out in stainless steel tanks with a capacity of up to 25,000 kilograms.

The must obtained from Convento San Francisco Primer Año undergoes malolactic fermentation before the appropriate aging process. During production, continuous punch-downs, pump-overs, and rack-and-returns are performed.

Convento San Francisco Primer Año is ultimately aged for 3 months in French oak barrels with a maximum capacity of 500 litres. After an additional resting period in the bottle, the wine is ready for sale.
