About Château Palmer

Château Palmer is a wood-aged red wine made by Château Palmer with the Cabernet Sauvignon variety in the AOC Margaux denomination in Bordeaux (France).

The Château Palmer wine estate was acquired by the English General Charles Palmer in 1814, hence its name. Located in the Cantenac commune, it is now owned by the Sichel family together with other winemaking partners. They have more than 50 hectares of vineyards planted on the gravelly hills of the Garonne, a rich combination of varieties and soils that place the Château Palmer wines among the most prestigious in Bordeaux and even in the world.

The Château Palmer vineyard has a high quality terroir with poor, well-drained gravel soils and sand and clay on the surface. Classified as ‘3ème Cru Classé’ in 1855, but comparable to some Premier Cru, this is an exceptional winemaking area that has led to Château Palmer becoming one of the leading wineries in the Médoc.

In the winery, the Château Palmer grapes are rigorously selected and once alcoholic fermentation begins, the temperature is controlled at all times. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for a long period of time, which can last between 20 and 21 months before bottling. This means it will go on to develop very well in the bottle.

Known all around the world, Château Palmer is a very prestigious wine with a limited production, which makes it even more sought after around the world. Power and smoothness in a Gran Cru coupage.
