About Château Margaux
Château Margaux is a red wine made mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon with a bit of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from the AOC Margaux Premier Grand Cru, Bordeaux.
Château Margaux is a mythical estate in Medoc, Bordeaux. Its origins date back to the twelfth century but the fields were not turned into vineyards until the period between 1522 and 1582. The wine first appeared in Christie's catalogue with the 1771 vintage. It was classified as a Premier Grand Cru in 1855.
The Château Margaux vines are around 35 years old on average, however some of their Cabernet Sauvignon plots are around 80 years old and some Merlot and Petit Verdot are about 60 years old. The soils are gravel and clay, sand and limestone. The vineyards have been organically cultivated since 2012.
Château Margaux is made in a traditional manner, fermenting in French oak foudres. Once fermented, the wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in new French oak barrels. The aging time depends on the grape and must quality and on the aging potential of the vintage.
Château Margaux is a fine, elegant and intense, complex and surprising wine with astounding aging potential.

2014 | Château Margaux 2014 boasts an exquisitely nuanced bouquet, redolent of rose petals and fresh blackcurrant, all delicately enfolded within balsamic whispers. On the palate, it reveals profound depth, balanced by vibrant acidity and graced with refined, velvety, and creamy tannins. | |
2011 | Château Margaux 2011 is an exceptional red wine. On the nose, it exudes a sumptuous floral bouquet complemented by scents reminiscent of blackberries and cassis, delicately accented with hints of spice, smoke, and truffle. On the palate, the 2011 vintage manifests with a lighter concentration and power than its predecessors, thereby enhancing its delicacy. An elegant red wine whose potential for evolution promises a splendid complexity and lingering finish. |
