About Chapuis & Chapuis Aloxe-Corton Rouge
Initially, Lebanon followed by Australia. The culmination came after three years of working alongside Pacalet. The wealth of experience gained and the knowledge acquired were ample for Romain Chapuis to join forces with his brother Jean-Guillaume, and together they embarked on their new venture: Chapuis&Chapuis.
From the A.O.C. Pommard, they now delve into the A.O.C. Aloxe-Corton, north of the Côte de Beaune, to harness the best of this renowned and historic region. In this new quest, organic cultivation and natural winemaking will be the guiding principles for the Chapuis as they seek out the finest vineyards situated between 200 and 300 meters above sea level. With their wealth of knowledge - their grandfather was also a vintner - the brothers are certain to unlock the full potential of the reddish-brown soils, composed of limestone and flint, rich in potassium and phosphoric acid.
Until now, the Chapuis brothers have been working in their Pommard winery, a facility that was once the historic kitchen of the Château de Pommard (dating back to the 13th century); however, for the production of Chapuis & Chapuis Aloxe-Corton Rouge, they have opted to construct a somewhat smaller, more modest winery with less history, where the outcome remains nothing short of spectacular. Chapuis & Chapuis Aloxe-Corton Rouge is fermented using indigenous yeasts, without the addition of any nutrients or sulfites, and will be aged for 15 months in French oak barrels.
