About Cayuse Cailloux Syrah
Cayuse Cailloux Syrah is a biodynamic, wood-aged red wine made by the Cayuse Vineyards winery in the Walla Walla Valley, in Washington (USA) with the Syrah variety.
Cayuse Vineyards is run by Christophe Baron, a young French winegrower who, having fallen in love with the Walla Walla Valley terroirs in Washington, began using all the knowledge he acquired in Champagne and Burgundy to produce exquisite, limited-production wines.
Cayuse Cailloux Syrah comes from Christophe’s first Walla Walla Valley vineyard. A 4-hectare plot that was planted in 1997 and has been organically cultivated since the very beginning, without using any synthetic fertilisers, chemicals, insecticides or fungicides. In 2002 it became biodynamic and the entire domain is an ecosystem where the land, plants and animals all sustain each other.
The harvest takes place following the astronomical calendar and once the Cayuse Cailloux Syrah grapes reach the winery, they ferment with native yeasts and then spend some time aging in wooden barrels.
Cayuse Cailloux Syrah is Christophe Baron’s flagship wine. A biodynamic red with captivating fruity aromas and a silky texture. A true Bordeaux from the Walla Walla Valley.

2016 | Cayuse Cailloux Syrah 2016 is a concentrated red wine that offers a nose of red and black fruits, floral notes and a rocky grip. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with a silky mid-palate and a well-defined structure. The finish is long and persistent with a tannic touch and bright acidity. |
