About Carrasviñas Dorado

Carrasviñas Dorado is a rich wine made by the Félix Lorenzo Cachazo Winery with Verdejo and Palomino varieties from the D.O. Rueda.

Félix Lorenzo Cachazo was one of the founders of D.O. Rueda. His family are still making quality wines, promoting area’s variety par excellence: Verdejo. Now, as a tribute to a particular era, the golden wine has been revived, a typical Rueda production that to oxidises outdoors in glass vats.

Cachazo benefits from pre-phylloxera vineyards. These are strains that were not devastated by the disease thanks to the sandy soils and are now over 150 years old. The vineyard uses traditional winemaking methods and the Carrasviñas Dorado grape is harvested when it reaches a high alcohol potential (15%).

In the winery, the different Carrasviñas Dorado grape varieties are vinified separately, destemmed and crushed to extract the first pressings. Once fermented in stainless steel tanks, coupage of the two wines is carried out and they are put in glass carafes (demijohns) outdoors for 18 months. The golden wine is then aged in French oak barrels for a minimum of 2 years.
