About Cantine Fina Taif

At Cantina Fina, no variety can be resisted: nero d'avola, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, gewürztraminer, merlot, syrah... And now it is zibibbo’s turn, with Cantine Fina Taif, a dry white made with this variety under the Terre Siciliane IGT.

It doesn't matter if it is white or red, native or international. In this Sicilian winery, located in the municipality of Marsala, Bruno Fina manages all these varieties to perfection. His wines are the result of his time at the Instituto Regional de la Viña y el Vino (Regional Institute of Wine and Vine), where he spent several years dedicated to the microvinification of international grape varieties. There he realised that in Sicily, where there is a great variety of soils, each variety had its perfect place. All he needed to do was to find it. And he dedicated himself to this together with Giacomo Tachis.

Now they are taking the leap with zibibbo, the name by which Muscat of Alexandria is known in the area. Its name comes from the Arabic word zabib, which means raisin, since this culture – where wine consumption is forbidden – consumed this variety fresh or as dried sweets. Specifically, the zibibbo, originally from Egypt, was brought to the island of Pallenteria by the Arabs. Here it is used for the production of sweet wines, but now Cantina Fina has revived it to make this dry white table wine.

Cantine Fina Taif’s zibibbo is grown in the western part of the island, at an altitude of 300 metres, in an entirely eco-friendly manner. The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of August. The bunches arrive at the newly built winery to ferment in stainless steel tanks. Here, Cantine Fina Taif will remain at rest for some time and continue its aging in the bottle, where it will age for six months before being released for sale.

Cantine Fina Taif is yet more proof that where there is a will, there is a way. We just need to find it. And Cantine Fina has more than proved that with Cantine Fina Taif.

2021

Cantine Fina Taif 2021 is an aromatic white, presenting a straw-yellow hue with greenish tints. The bouquet is pronounced, brimming with fruity notes (peach, tangerine), herbaceous and floral undertones (roses). On the palate, it is well-rounded and mineral, warm and harmoniously balanced, offset by a delightful freshness and a very pleasant acidity. The finish is floral and lingering.
