About Box 1 bottle Bollinger R.D.

Bollinger R.D. is a champagne crafted by the Bollinger house, located in Ay, in the heart of Champagne.

Since its establishment in 1829 in the Montagne de Reims, the Maison Bollinger has continued to produce and mature its champagnes as it always has, year after year, imprinting the renowned Bollinger hallmark, synonymous with quality and prestige.

Bollinger benefits from its 174 hectares of proprietary vineyards to produce the majority of its wines. Eighty-five percent of these vineyards are classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, with two notable plots containing pre-phylloxera vines, Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres.

One of the most esteemed features of Bollinger is its reserve wines, bottled and aged in magnums with corks, and classified by vintage, thus forming one of the largest reserves of this type of wine in the region.

Bollinger R.D. is a champagne made from pinot noir and chardonnay grapes from vineyards that are 88% Grands Crus and the remainder Premiers Crus. The soils are clay-sandy with limestone presence.

The grapes are harvested at their optimal ripeness with meticulous selection, leading to vinification with fermentation exclusively in oak barrels over five years old. The bottle ageing is conducted with cork for a minimum of 8 years. It is a champagne with 3 grams per litre of sugar, an Extra Brut. The initials R.D. stand for “recently disgorged” and the disgorgement date is indicated on the back label.

It is the most distinguished champagne of the Maison Bollinger and is only produced in those vintages where the grape quality is exceptional. It has great ageing potential.

2007 Bollinger R.D. 2007 is a champagne with an elegant range of aromas on the nose where honey and brioche stand out. Gradually the spices (ginger, cumin, caraway) appear to harmoniously accompany its fruity notes (mirabelle plum, dried apricot) with a touch of fresh hazelnut. The mouthfeel is deliciously tense with white plum, walnut and anise. A complex and fresh, elegant and captivating champagne.
2004

Bollinger R.D. 2004 is a mature, complex and delicate champagne. The nose has a distinguished aroma of candied white fruit, with floral notes and those of fresh pastries. The palate entry is elegant, with a silky texture and a fine bubble.
