Tasting notes Barons de Rothschild Rosé

Champagne Brut Respectful agriculture. 36 months in bottle.

Barons de Rothschild Rosé offers a lively and memorable experience. Its vibrant pale pink colour with salmon hues is just the beginning of its charm. On the nose, it unfolds a symphony of delicate aromas, where wild strawberries and rose petals intertwine with subtle citrus notes of lemon zest. On the palate, it surprises with a fresh entry that transforms into a silky and well-balanced texture, leaving a long-lasting finish. I recommend it for its elegant effervescence and its ability to bring freshness and sophistication to every sip.

About Barons de Rothschild Rosé

There are surnames that in the collective imagination encapsulate centuries of influence, history, and legend. In the wine world, the name Rothschild is the direct equivalent of that resounding and respected aristocracy. However, beyond the myth, the trajectory of this lineage demonstrates that great milestones are not born from distance, but from the ability to collaborate. For generations, the three branches of the dynasty, represented by Château Lafite, Château Mouton and Château Clarke, shone individually at the helm of their iconic châteaux in Bordeaux. It was not until the 21st century that, for the first time in history, they joined forces, vision, and heritage in a common project focused on sparkling wines, establishing their main headquarters in the city of Reims. From this unprecedented alliance comes Barons de Rothschild Rosé, the demonstration that when a family legacy decides to row in the same direction, the result is pure refinement.

From Reims, in the heart of Champagne, Barons de Rothschild Rosé is crafted under the prestigious Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Champagne. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in the renowned Côte des Blancs, specifically from such emblematic villages as Avize, Cramant, Mesnil sur Oger, and Oger, while the Pinot Noir comes from plots located in the Montagne de Reims. The soils in these areas are predominantly calcareous, dominated by the famous chalk of the region, which acts as a natural sponge retaining moisture and imparting a marked mineral tension to the fruit. The climate is continental in nature, characterised by cool temperatures and a slow ripening process. The blend relies on a high proportion of Chardonnay complemented by Pinot Noir vinified as red wine to provide colour and structure, following a model of sustainable viticulture focused on the highest quality of the grape cluster.

The production of Barons de Rothschild Rosé follows the traditional method or méthode champenoise, the process in which the second fermentation occurs naturally inside the bottle. Harvesting is done by hand in small crates to prevent the skins from breaking and subsequent oxidation. Once at the winery, the must undergoes the first alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks. After the tirage and prise de mousse, the wine undergoes ageing on lees for 3 years, the time during which the bottles rest horizontally on their fine lees so that the inactive yeasts impart texture and complex notes. Finally, after disgorgement, the operation to remove the sediment deposited in the neck, the champagne remains in the bottle for 3 months, a crucial resting period that endows the ensemble with maturity and balance before it reaches the market.

Barons de Rothschild Rosé is a champagne of refined profile, enveloping and of sublime vivacity. An excellent choice for those who appreciate elegance without artifice and the value of things well done.
